MSMEs play a crucial role in the economy as they contribute significantly to employment generation, income generation, poverty reduction, and overall economic development. MSMEs operate in various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, handicrafts, tourism, services, and technology. This diversity contributes to the overall economic resilience of the country. Many MSMEs struggle with a shortage of skilled labor, technical expertise, and managerial capabilities, hindering their productivity and ability to compete. They also face difficulties in accessing domestic and international markets due to a lack of market information, limited market linkages, and poor logistics. Initiatives from Government and relevant stakeholders on policy reforms, providing financial and technical support, improving infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, and facilitating market access and skill development goes a long way in supporting and enhancing the prospects of MSMEs in Nepal.
